Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) encompasses a variety of housing options specifically designed for individuals with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs due to their disabilities. The houses are catered to participants needs with modifications and amenities to lay the foundation of transitioning into an adult to live independently.

BJ Care Services’ Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) services places individuals over the age of 19 at the centre of their own lives, to lay the foundation of transitioning into an adult to live independently. With continued task skills provided and activities recommended, our team work together with the participant to achieve their NDIS goals.

Our SDA team understands that transportation can be a significant barrier for individuals with varying abilities. That’s why we make it an extra priority to provide our participants with allocated vehicles that are tailored to meet their specific care and safety needs.

Working alongside our participants, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) properties are catered to accommodate comfort and safety, such as wheelchair accessibility, specialised seating, and other adaptive equipment.

Shared Living Arrangements

SDA often involves shared accommodation with a small number of other individuals who also have high support needs. This shared living arrangement promotes social interaction and peer support among residents.

Individual Living Options

While SDA typically involves shared living, individuals may also have the option to live in SDA properties independently if it best meets their needs and circumstances. This flexibility ensures that housing options align with the preferences and requirements of residents.

Independence goals

Within our SDA houses, we fully promote individual living. While we continue to offer community access services and social outings, whilst we actively encouraging our adult participants to pursue their passions and hobbies to enrich their lives.

–            Booking visits from social workers

–            Assisting to organise banking, paying bills, and keeping appointments

–            Attending group and Individual outings
